I'm not sure if there is a better subject heading under which to post this message received by the San Benito County Historical Society. Perhaps this will be of interest to someone in Santa Cruz County. Exploring the website, I see that two locations in Santa Cruz County have already been identified.

Greetings,

I am writing to see if the San Benito County Historical Society is interested in partnering with the California Historical Society, specifically on California’s Living New Deal Project (CLNDP). The CLNDP is looking to develop long-term partnerships to assist in the documentation of New Deal sites throughout the state, the collection of stories, and hosting of public programs and exhibitions. To introduce potential partners to our project, we are hosting a workshop. The Partnership Workshop will provide participants training on how the CLNDP website technology works and how to submit information on New Deal sites and projects. Please check out our website at http://livingnewdeal.berkeley.edu. We need your help to get all of the New Deal sites in the state identified and on the map!

The Partnership Workshop will be held at the Institute for Research and Employment at UC Berkeley on Monday, November 10, 2008 from 10 am to 4 pm. I have attached an agenda for your information. The CLNDP will provide attendees who are traveling a distance one night’s lodging at the Hotel Durant, travel reimbursement (up to $200 – under special circumstances more travel funds may be available), and of course we will keep you well-fed. I hope you can join us. If you know of any other people in California who might be interested in assisting, please let us know. We are really looking to get help documenting projects outside of the Bay Area.

Please rsvp to me, Carrie Davenport, cdavenport@calhist.org if you are interested in attending or if you have any questions.

I hope to meet you on November 10!

Best regards,

Carrie Davenport
