(1949) The first Negro Negro gold miner in California was Waller Jackson, who sailed around Cape Horn, from Boston, and mined at Downieville, Calif. Several hundred other Black miners came to California during the gold rush.
The first one in Santa Cruz was Dave Boffman, who arrived 1852. |
